Great content starts with a clear understanding of your narrative. Before you pick up a camera or open an editing app, ask yourself: what is the story I am telling? As a musician, your content should build a world around your music. Fans do not just want to hear songs — they want to understand the person behind them. Your studio setup, your creative process, your influences, your struggles, and your victories all form a narrative that makes people invested in your journey.
You do not need expensive equipment to create professional-looking content. A modern smartphone shoots 4K video and takes excellent photos. Invest in two affordable accessories that make the biggest difference: a ring light (or any consistent light source) for indoor shooting, and a clip-on microphone for clear audio. Natural light from a window is free and almost always looks better than overhead room lighting. Shoot in the morning or late afternoon for the most flattering outdoor light.
Batch your content creation. Set aside one or two sessions per week where you create multiple pieces of content in one go. Film five TikToks in an hour, take a week worth of Instagram photos in a single session, and record a month of podcast episodes in an afternoon. This is far more efficient than creating content every day, and it ensures you always have a backlog of posts ready to go. Use a simple scheduling tool like Later or Buffer to queue posts in advance.
